A Guide to Your Wedding Photography

What’s involved?

Couple walk looking at each other outside Hopetoun House

Booking your wedding photography is a huge investment and it can be stressful not knowing what is involved. Here is a step by step guide to how it works if you were to book with me.

Firstly, if you like the photographs you are seeing and want to know more then all you have to do is get in touch via the contact form. If you would like to see my portfolio please click here. We can discuss the plans for your day and how much fun it is getting your photograph taken by me!

Pre-shoots & Chats

It’s wonderful if I can meet my couples before their wedding. This breaks the ice and lets us get to know each other before the day. These will either be in the form of a zoom call or pre-shoot depending on the package you book.

Pre shoot’s are great for getting rid of any ‘getting-my-photograph-taken-nerves’ whilst also letting you see my process for capturing your day! So when it comes to your wedding day you will hopefully have no worries regarding your photographs! (+ I am super friendly so it’s nothing to be scared about) (++ if you have a dog it is mandatory that you bring it – please and thank you!)

it’s your wedding day

All the planning, organising, wishing & thinking is done and now it’s time to have B E S T day ever. It really does pass in a blink of an eye and you will honestly love sharing such incredible moments with your family and closest friends. Prior to your wedding you will be sent a booking form which lets me know the timings and other particulars of your day so I can be completely organised for capturing it for you … so you can just go and have fun and I will capture all those smiles.

During your wedding day I focus on capturing you my couples but I also like to chat to your guests and make sure they feel comfortable and relaxed around me … by doing this it helps to those hilarious, candid & super special moments to happen (and be photographed!).

OPEN POST

a typical wedding day’s timeline

I arrive with you approximately 2.5 hours before your ceremony. I most likely start with some simple detail shots so people get warmed up to me being there and then capture you all getting ready.

1.30pm – I arrive at your ceremony venue to capture your guests arriving and your partner … sometimes looking nervous, sometimes sneaking a dram but always looking pretty darn excited! It is lovely at this time to get a mix of candids and family & friend group portraits as well as details photographs of the ceremony setup.

then you say I do!

2pm – Your ceremony begins & I capture all those precious moments … from best friends doing readings, to your vows, the sneaky looks that you give each other & your family shedding a tear.

2.45pm – You’re married and everyone is hugging, smiling & congratulating you both! I’m floating in the background catching all of it. To confetti or not to confetti? … If you go for it I can help you arrange your guests to get fab, fun photographs of you in it!

congratulations, hugs & celebrations

3pm – Afterwards, I’ll be sure to capture your family portraits that you’ll look back on in years to come. Prior to your day I will send you out a booking form where you can list what group photographs you want. This makes this part of the day go smoothly and you don’t need to worry about forgetting anyone! Being organised means we can do these nice and quickly so everyone can get back to enjoying the fizz & canapés !

3.30pm – Let’s go and take some photographs of you guys as a freshly married couple! We’ll go for a walk, pick a nice spot and hang out for a short time. Nothing too stiff or awkward – I keep it light and fun as taking photographs of happy people is my favourite thing to do! You can see more examples of how this may look in my portfolio page.

4pm – Go enjoy time with your guests whilst I mingle and capture more candid moments. I’ll also get some details shots of the reception set up too.

laughter, happy tears and he said what??!! faces

This real wedding’s venue was Oran Mor, Glasgow

5pm – Guests are sat for dinner and speeches commence. This is one of my favourite times of the day … lots of laughter, smiles and happy tears to photograph!

5.45pm until 7pm – Dinner. I’ll usually take a break here and grab some dinner too.

7pm until 8pm – I’ll ask if you both want to go for another 10 minutes more of couple photographs. This is a lovely part of your day as the formalities are finished with and I find couples can be more relaxed and enjoy getting some more quiet time together.

and then we party

This real wedding’s venue was Hopetoun House, South Queensferry

8pm onwards – The first dance happens and your nearest & dearest join you to party the night away! I stay and capture all the wild dance moves and leave approximately 20 minutes or so after the first dance.

A couple of days after your Wedding you will receive some Sneak Peeks. These are a small selection showing some highlights from your wedding. These will be so exciting to see and you’ll love to share them with friends and family! Next you will receive your online gallery and you will get to re-live your special day all over again! Your gallery will arrive with all your photographs from your day no more than 6 weeks after your wedding.

You can see how your photographs can escape the digital world in my After Your Wedding Day post.

✨I have exciting news!! ✨

It has been a long time coming and something I am really proud to do ... I have rebranded and now I’m using my own name as my business name.

When I started Kalisterscope Photography almost 8 years ago, I didn’t really know how this new venture would turn out and the thought of putting my name to it didn’t cross my mind! Fast forward to now and I am so happy to be making this step!

Going forward the business will be know as Suzanne Lister Photography.

Although this is a big change and the end of an era I’m so excited to have done it! My new website is now live - link in my bio. Please do check it out if you have the time.

Thank you to all my 2025 & 2026 couples who have been so supportive & encouraging about this change.

I still absolutely love what I do and I am looking forward to continuing to do so under my own name 💕

Hello, I’m Suzanne. I love taking photos of people and the couples that I work with are at the very centre of what I do. My mission is to help them feel confident & happy so beautiful & magical moments from their day can be captured.

I’m a laid back, enthusiastic presence on your day. I will hype you up, encourage & even tell silly jokes to get you feeling relaxed and to bring out that 100% real, authentic smile! Your photographs will not only look amazing but you’ll feel amazing when they are being taken.

Some things about me ….

🪴 I am Scottish and live in the North of Glasgow.

✨ Campervan holidays, being by the water & hillclimbing are some of my favourite things to do.

🧁 On my wedding day we had two cakes because nobody should be forced to choose between cake or cheese!

💛 I love; Autumn, sunshine, taylor swift / zach bryan / counting crows, beautiful ceramics, dried flowers, being on time, wedding venue selfies & flat whites with a cannolli!
