What a wedding this was!! Nathan & Dan, from Manchester, decided to elope to a whisky distillery in Scotland because of course they love whisky but they also wanted a smaller wedding with only their very favourite in attendance. I loved all the details they had for their Stylish Spring Whisky Wedding at Lindores Abbey Distillery … yes to first looks and pre-ceremony drinks together, yes to a super long drinks reception & impromptu dancing and a massive yes to doing things your own way on your wedding day.

Wedding Morning at Malmaison Dundee
Nathan got ready at the stylish Malmaison in Dundee which was a short drive to Lindores Abbey Distillery. I met him there to capture him getting ready and having some pre wedding drinks with his family. I loved his three piece tweed suit in brown hues with a dried flower button hole. He also was wearing a gorgeous orange tie. I then headed to Lindores Abbey Distillery to capture Dan before the ceremony. Dan was also wearing a tweed suit but in green hues and with an orange bow-tie. Dan & Nathan’s outfits complimented each other beautifully whilst still being different & unique.

Wedding Ceremony beside the Stills
Before their ceremony began Nathan & Dan decided to do a first look and a first drink together. This was a really special idea and also sensible as the drinks settled any nerves they might have! Their ceremony was so personable and conducted wonderfully by Yvonne Hannah. They incorporated tying the knot and quaich drinking … a thoroughly Scottish ceremony!
Couple Portraits at Lindores Distillery
After their ceremony we went down to the courtyard at Lindores Abbey Distillery for some confetti celebrations. Nathan & Dan chose to have a lengthy drinks reception so they could spend the afternoon drinking & celebrating (and a little bit of dancing!) with their favourite people. Nathan & Dan then headed to the stills room for some photographs just the two of them. We then headed outside to the gardens across the road. This was a wonderful chance for Nathan & Dan to bask in newlywed joy and for me to capture all their happiness. My couple sessions are so relaxed with only the gentlest of prompts for you to make the most of your photographs.
Wedding Speeches & Evening Dancing
The dining room space in Lindores Abbey Distillery is so atmospheric and just brimming with character. Nathan & Dan had it set up with a long table filled with candles and flowers. The speeches were filled with smiles and happy tears and were incredibly touching. After the meal Nathan & Dan were happy to go outside to get some atmospheric photographs in front of the Lindores Abbey Distillery front. I used an off-camera flash to backlight them so that they glowed in the darkness Afterwards we headed back in to get the dancing started! An incredible wedding of two of the loveliest people done their way – one I’ll remember always.
